Take it personally

I remember being saved at a young age, I can remember the feelings that swept over me in the small Texas church where I was attending a revival…(as I remember it). However, after that came not much of anything, no real guidance, mentor etc. . . My grandmother, bless her heart tried her very best to teach me about God and his saving grace but, it just never sank in. The road that I chose to go down as I grew into a young women was not very savory at times to say the least. I became pregnant at 15 years old and had my son when I was 16. I did however, manage to graduate from high with the help of my Mother, my high school principle and one teacher from my school. I graduated May 19, 1976, turned 18 May 23, 1976 and married May 28, 1976. Getting married at the time seemed to be the quickest, easiest way to get out on my own…so I thought. That marriage was short lived, I moved around some then married in 1981 to an old high school friend. We were together for 14 years and had a beautiful little girl. That marriage ended and in 1995 I met the love of my life. I also lost my son in 1995 his heart stopped and he just collapsed. That was very traumatic for all of us but we managed to get through, as I look back on it now I see God everywhere. Then I am not really sure what prompted me other than for as long as I could remember I always had this feeling there was something more and something was always pulling me toward going to church… still it just never sank in. Finally through work I met several people who were on fire for the Lord and witnessed to me through words and actions. I started looking for a church and that is when I met Kevin and Tara my Sunday school teachers. They started witnessing to me, calling and sending cards when I did not show up for church and just showing me a love that I had never really seen before. That is when I decided to truly rededicate myself to the Lord in November of 2001 and joined the church. Since that time God has done a mighty work in my life and continues to mold and shape me. The Lord led me into Women’s ministry, a love for music and the church I still can not even begin to wrap my mind around the love and grace the Lord has for me. . . “God so love the world that He gave his only begotten. . .” I continue to be a work in progress and hope and pray that I will continue to be until I join our heavenly Father
