My parents moved to Laurel, Mississippi two months after my father retired from the Air Force. Most of things I learned about God up to that time was from home. My mother had taught me and my sister the ten commandments, to love your neighbor as yourself and the golden rule. I had listened to Billy Graham on television several times, but never understood everything about becoming a Christian.
After my parents moved to Mississippi, we started going to Sharon Baptist Church and the Lord began to speak to my heart. I wanted to give my life to Him and live for God, so I went down front to talk to the preacher
during a Youth testimony time on a Friday night. I prayed and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior on March of 1971. My parents re-dedicated their lives and my sister was saved also.
Before I was a Christian, I thought of only what I wanted and not what God wanted for my life. As a teen-ager I was thinking about going to college and what my future would be like.
A visiting preacher told our youth group to choose things that are pleasing to God. Let God choose where you go to college, what you do and who you marry in the future. From that sermon I was able to grow closer to God. I went to a Christian college for a year or more.
Later, I worked at a nearby hospital in the office. As time progressed my mother became very sick. She had surgery for a brain tumor then recovered and had surgery again for another brain tumor. Shortly after that she found out she had cancer and later died. By this time I was 22 years old and still living at home. I returned to school, then I worked with my dad for a while with a seims-graph crew in oil business. When the oil business went down, I decided to leave home_to get on my own.
I read Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not own your own understanding. I trust the Lord and ask Him to help me find a Christian husband. First ,I had to tell others about how to become a Christian and join the army to get to the husband God had for me. So, I did not understand, but I leaned on Jesus to help me through. My husband was stationed in Germany where we got married. I finished my army time one year later at Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Then, my husband and I returned to Germany where my twin boys Christopher and Jonathan were born. We have been married 25 years now. God is more than just good. He is Wonderful, Awesome, and more than I deserve. He is forgiving, kind and loving. You can trust Him.
