Staying cool in a furnace got my attention

I was transferred from the hospital nursery to the church nursery. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church. As a child, I attended Sunday School, B.T.U. (Baptist Training Union), Vacation Bible Schools, revivals, Woman's Missionary Union meetings (my mother was active in the W.M.U. so I got to attend their gatherings), fellowship times, and worship services. Along the way, I was taught the Bible. John 3:16 was emphasized many times. I memorized John 3:16 as a child. At the age of ten years, while attending Vacation Bible School in my home church, my pastor told the story of three young boys thrown in a fiery furnace because they refused to bow down and worship an idol of the king of their country. He said the boys were not injured by the fire because Jesus kept them cool in the furnace. The story was based on the Old Testament book of Daniel, chapter three. Upon listening to my pastor tell that story, I realized that if I did not repent of my sins and trust my life to the care of Jesus, I would one day end up in a fiery furnace called hell. I knew God loved me and sent Jesus to die for me, as a payment for my sin. I certainly did not want to spend an eternity in a fiery furnace (hell) so that morning I went to my pastor and told him that I wanted to give my life to Jesus. I prayed. In my prayer I admitted to God that I was a sinner. I also asked Jesus to take over my life. Immediately, I received forgiveness of my sins and was welcomed into the family of God. The 57 years following that day proved to be a wonderful journey. I never have nor will I ever be forsaken by God. He invested too much in me. That is, the life of His only begotten Son. Out of gratitude I've tried to make His investment in me worthwhile. You can, too!
Like me, you are the object of God's love.
God expressed His love for you by sending His only one-of-a-kind Son, Jesus, to ransom you from Satan. The ransom price was the life of Jesus. He willingly paid it.
Consequently, the result of God's love for you is everlasting life, if only you will believe in Him. That is, trust your life to Jesus. Rely upon Him. Follow Him!

Deep in the heart of all people is a belief in happy endings. We want a happy ending in our movies and novels, and we yearn for a happy ending in our life. When asked what they want for their children, parents sometimes say, “I just want them to be…
